Yves Canarelli

Yves Canarelli took over his grandfather’s vines in 1993. In 20 years, he has shifted his viticulture over to biodynamics, and reintroduced ancient grape varietals like Cargaghjolu Nero, which nearly went extinct in the 1960s. He also transformed his domain into an ultra-modern estate, to fully benefit from one of the highest rates of sunshine in France. Yves has tested everything: from his viticulture (cultivating a parcel of pre-phylloxera vines, replanting forgotten grape varieties of Figari), to his vinifications (using indigenous yeasts, creating a micro-cuvée using amphorae), maturing wines on their lees, etc.... Here, everything is the subject of constant research. Yves is considered the most talented Corsican vigneron of his generation. The quality of his wines alone has propelled the Figari AOC back to prominence. And his cuvée Carcaghjolu Neru is simply one of the most beautiful cuvées made on the entire Isle of Beauty.
