A free-spirited, easy-drinking Syrah with that little touch of rock ‘n’ roll from Matassa that we love so much! Notes of cherry, red berries, spices, with a subtle hint of violet. Juicy on the palate, with splendid fruit, supple tannins, refreshing acidity, and a fresh finish.

This is the second vintage for this cuvée. Nathalie and Tom purchased several vineyards higher up in the Corbières region to avoid (if possible) the drought. 100% Syrah from vines around 30 years old, grown organically and harvested by hand. Natural vinification: whole clusters are foot-crushed, followed by 5 days of maceration by infusion, without any pumping over or punching down. Pressing, followed by 7 months of aging in concrete tanks. Just one racking before bottling at the estate; no fining or filtration, and no added sulfites.

Tom Lubbe hails from South Africa. In France, he was one of the finest students of Gérard Gauby , thanks to whom he met Nathalie, Gérard’s sister, with whom he settled in 2001 in Calce, in a still unspoilt environment, where they founded the Domaine Matassa.
