Marsannay "La Montagne" - 2023 - Sylvain Pataille

Domaine Sylvain Pataille

This is one "Montagne" that you’ll have no trouble climbing, so charming is its nose, showing great freshness, and notes of red fruit, plum, black cherry, long pepper, and a hint of wood. The palate is luscious and velvety, with supple and perfectly integrated tannins, which compliment the wine’s lovely volume.

100% Pinot Noir, from biodynamic vines planted on the top of the slope, facing the Combe de Marsannay and therefore cool, but facing south, making for a perfectly balanced terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand. Natural vinification: after 100% destemming, the grapes macerate for three weeks with pumping over and punching down of the cap, followed by gentle pressing in an old vertical press, and 15 months of maturation in barrels of which 10% are new oak. Bottled at the estate without fining or filtration, and just a microdose of sulphur.
