Unique wine and a delightful surprise, with an incredibly complex nose of black cherry, blackberry, plum, dried herbs, cedar, and a hint of spice... Deep and structured palate, with firm tannins and a velvety texture. Long, powerful, refined finish, on notes of black fruit and cocoa.
A blended cuvée of half Touriga Nacional (30 years old – east-facing) and half Baga (40 years old – southeast-facing). The vines are farmed organically and planted on two plots with granitic soils, with veins of clay and sand, in the village of Pinhanços. The grapes were harvested by hand. Separate vinification: destemming, crushing, 6 days of maceration, pressing, fermentation in large open top granite vats (called lagar in Portugal), 18 months of aging in French oak barrels, without new oak. Blending after the aging.
