100% Syrah, all of Andréa’s parcels are planted on clay-limestone soils. Chatons de Garde is the fruit of a 21-day carbonic maceration of whole bunches, uncrushed withstems intact. Low temperature fermentation: 16°C. Matured in old Burgundy oak barrels, without added sulfur. Bottled at the Estate on the 4th of July 2022. On the back label is written “Déconseillé aux chiennes” (Not recommended for dogs…). Classic back label provocation, doesn’t that remind us of a certain Dagueneau?

Andréa Calek was trained by the Rohel brothers in the Rhône and by Dominique Hauvette in Baux de Provence. Our globetrotting Czech then laid down his hat in Alba-la-Romaine, 10 km East of Montélimar, in the heart of the Ardèche, where he created his own estate in 2007.
