Matteo - 2019 - Bernard Duseigneur
A nose of plum, blackcurrant, cocoa, coffee, pepper and a hint of smoke. A solar wine with a generous, complex palate, and beautiful structure – a perfect expression of the appellation. For maximum pleasure, decanting is a must.

A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah from 40-year-old vines farmed biodynamically on Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s classic stony terroir of large round pebbles over a subsoil of clay and sandstone. The pebbles act as a heat reservoir while the subsoil retains moisture. The two grape varieties are harvested by hand, destemmed, then vinified separately with indigenous yeasts, and matured for 12 months in demi-muid barrels that have seen several wines. Bottled on the estate with a dose of sulphur, but without fining or filtration.
