Lovely balance, fruit galore, a hint of spice and plenty of softness, very easy to drink. An authentic cuvée for serious aficionados of natural wine.
A blended cuvée: 50% Merlot, 50% Syrah from organically grown vines. All of Andréa’s parcels are planted on clay-limestone soils. This ultra-natural wine has no added sulphites. Andréa’s top cuvée, Pénultième is the fruit of a maceration and maturation in old Burgundy oak barrels for 10 months, shorter than the previous vintages. Bottled on the 4th of July 2022 without filtration nor fining, zero sulfur.
Andréa Calek was trained by the Rohel brothers in the Rhône and by Dominique Hauvette in Baux de Provence. Our globetrotting Czech then laid down his hat in Alba-la-Romaine, 10 km East of Montélimar, in the heart of the Ardèche, where he created his own estate in 2007.
