Rhône Valley
Tourmaline - 2019 - Aurélien Houillon
Domaine Houillon
A deeply coloured wine, with a complex nose of jammy strawberry, amarena cherry, blackcurrant, fig and a hint of liquorice. With a dense and velvety palate, this is a beautifully-made rosé that can be enjoyed from aperitif through the end of dinner.

This is the first vintage for this 100% Grenache Noir cuvée, made from 40- to 50-year-old vines, farmed organically and planted on red soils with pebbles. The grapes are harvested by hand, 17 hl/ha. Vinification: whole grape bunches are macerated for one week, followed by gentle pressing, and one year of maturation in stainless steel vats. Bottled in August 2020 without fining or filtration, and more importantly, without added sulphites. Though classified as a rosé, technically this could be described as a very light red wine!
