The name “Merlot” comes from the little blackbird, which loves to peck at these berries! This wine is very fresh and ultra-fruity—quite a contrast to the typical Bordeaux style. The tannins are gentle and supple, making it perfect with a platter of cold cuts.

100% Merlot from old vines planted in 1993—the estate’s oldest vines. The vines are cultivated organically and planted on fairly poor clay-limestone soils; the plot is protected by a hedge at both the top and bottom. The grapes were harvested by hand. Natural vinification: total destemming, 9 days of maceration with daily pumping over, gentle pressing, and 6 months of aging in tanks. Bottled in late spring 2024, without fining or filtration, and with no added sulfites.

After studying agronomy, he left for Argentina and Brazil, then settled for 10 years in Madagascar (hence the name of the Estate!) where he worked as an aquaculturist and as a scuba diver. It is the birth of his daughter that motivates him to come back to France in 2014. Antonin returns...
