Chapitre I - 2020 - Valentin Desloges
Les Quatre Piliers
The perfect cuvée and price/pleasure ratio to understand Valentin's preciseness, a Sauvignon without any varietal heaviness, carried by a mineral backbone and notes of candied oranges, exotic fruits, brioche, verbena. Long and saline finish. Decanting recommended before tasting.

100% Sauvignon from 15 to 35-year-old vines, planted on a bit more than three hectares in total, the vines have been in the process of being converted to organic farming since Valentin bought the vineyard, and are planted on limestone soils, with sands and flint. West exposure. Manual harvest, direct pressing, indigenous yeasts, fermentation in demi-muids, aging for 8 months in casks and barrels, with 10% new oak. Two months of blending then bottling in July 2021, sensible use of sulfites.
Valentin Desloges, child of the 1993 vintage, took the right decision by continuing the family line of winegrowers and founding Les Quatre Piliers estate. After high-school in Amboise and a BTS viti-oeno in Bordeaux, Valentin participated in the vinification of Château Mangot, then left in 2015 for 6 months in New Zealand, where he deepened his comprehension of Sauvignon.
