Quarterons - 2020 - Sébastien Riffault - Magnum
Domaine Sébastien Riffault
A lovely Sancerre, faultless, very aromatic, with exotic notes. On the palate, Quarterons is lively and balanced, a powerful wine with great minerality, notes of grapefruit, and a long, delicate finish. Some gas may remain in the bottle.

Sauvignon from a 5-ha parcel planted on a clay-limestone soil. The vines are 30 years old, grown biodynamically (the estate is certified organic and biodynamic by DEMETER) and the yields around 30-35 hl/ha. As for the vinification: 3 months of fermentation, including malolactic fermentation, all with natural yeasts. No sulphur is added during either vinification or maturation. Matured 18 months in vats on its fine lees, only 1 g/hl at bottling.

Sébastien Riffault
Sébastien Riffault, look no further, it’s him, the 100% natural winemaker in Sancerre. His estate, Domaine Etienne et Sébastien Riffault, is located in Sury-en-Vaux. There Sébastien works his soils with horses, uses zero chemicals in the vines, and farms biodynamically. If is approach recalls that of Alexandre Bain, it’s perhaps not surprising to know the two are not only neighbours but close...
