Rhône Valley
Antarès - 2020 - Bernard Duseigneur
Domaine Duseigneur
A profound wine with notes of blueberry, blackberry, crushed strawberry, cocoa, white pepper and a subtle hint of wood. The palate is rich and warm, with fine tannins and a long, velvety, jammy fruit finish. Worth decanting.

A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre, from 50-year-old vines farmed biodynamically and planted on deep sand and sandstone soils at 160 metres altitude. From selected parcels grown on north-facing slopes at the western end of the Lirac appellation. The two grape varieties are harvested by hand, destemmed, then vinified separately, the Grenache matured in cement vats and the Mourvèdre in demi-muid barrels that have seen two or three wines, in each case for 12 months. Bottled at the estate without fining or filtration, and sparing use of sulphur.
