Rhône Valley
A complex, powerful, spicy wine with notes of black fruits, violets and liquorice. On the palate, it’s fresh, smooth, and well balanced. A very beautiful expression of the Syrah grape, with lovely minerality. It’s superb – and it’s natural.
A blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Viognier, made from organically grown vines selected by massal selection and planted between 1986 and 1994 on terraced granite and gneiss terroirs (precisely leucogneiss and vein of quartz). The Binardes parcel is on the Côte Blonde, below the lieu-dit of Tupin. Hand-harvested, gently pressed, aged for 12 months in vats. Bottled on the Maison Stephan without fining or filtration, with no added sulfites.
Jean-Michel Stéphan, a man who respects and draws inspiration from the past, while also being modern and innovative, created his estate in 1991. It stretches over 4.5 ha in the Côte-Rôtie, including such legendary vineyard sites as Tupin, Semons and Bassenon.
