A classy Bourgogne Villages with all the makings of a great wine, with notes of baked apple, orange peel and hazelnut. Palate: fine volume, with a mineral structure that supports this lovely length.
100% Chardonnay from biodynamic vines planted on two parcels of 90 acres in the village of Marsannay: En Auvonne and En Varangée, on well-drained, well-exposed loam and clay-limestone soils with numerous small pebbles on the surface that release accumulated energy. Harvesting is done by hand, and it is moved by gravity, natural vinification with no additives: direct pressing, ageing in barrels that have seen several wines, bottled at the estate.
Jean-Louis Trapet is part of a select circle of the 10 greatest vignerons of the Côte de Nuits. His family estate, founded by his great-grandfather in 1870, is composed of around 15 hectares of the most beautiful parcels around Gevrey.
