Pinot Noir, from 55-year-old vines farmed organically and planted in a different parcel for the 2021 vintage: it's the En Mareau Climat in Pommard, with a North-East exposure and a steep slope, and a few Pinot Gris vinsetocks that are co-planted on the parcel. The grapes are hand harvested, with small yields. Vinification: whole grape bunches are macerated for one month, then 10 months of maturation in barrels that have seen several wines. Bottled in June 2022, without fining, filtration or added sulphites.

Jonathan Purcell is a young Californian winemaker full of talent. His father introduced him to the pleasures of wine at an early age, by having him taste Burgundies from the ’40s and ’50s. The aromas of those elixirs marked him for life. By the age of 15 he’d already decided that “when he grows up” he too would make wine.
