Between green apple and French toast, with a hint of marzipan along the way. On the palate: round and generous, yet balanced by a very fresh, mineral edge—surprisingly so for a Chardonnay. The tension is definitely there, with a long finish marked by evolving notes and a chalky touch.

100% Chardonnay from vines planted in 1950 and 1960 on a 40-are parcel in Villers-Marmery, rooted in clay-limestone soils with a touch of flint. Organically farmed (not yet certified at the time). North-West exposure. Hand-harvested, direct pressing, fermentation and ageing exclusively in oak barrels. Bottled in April 2013. Aged on lees for 9 years, disgorged in May 2022. Unfined, unfiltered, zero dosage.

Hugues and Lucille Godmé, father and daughter, work hand in hand at the helm of their family-run Maison de Champagne. You may already know the name Hugues Godmé, a true pioneer of biodynamics in Champagne. He joined his parents' estate in 1978, following four generations before him, and left a lasting mark.
