Désiré - 2020 - Hervé Villemade - Magnum
Hervé Villemade
A nose of red fruits and wilted roses. On the palate, this is a wine of dense and elegant substance, luscious, very long. A very well-crafted, fruit-forward wine, that is always a favorite during the tastings! Désiré was the grandfather of Hervé Villemade.

85% Pinot Noir and 15% Gamay from 30-year-old vines grown organically and planted on flinty sandy soils. The harvest is done by hand, the grapes sorted in the vineyard, and the yields kept under control. Vinification: the grapes are macerated in Georgian amphorae (qvevri) of 800 and 1000 litres and in old barrels, then aging in amphorae until the bottling in September 2021. Unfined, unfiltered, just a micro-dose of sulphur. Only produced in magnums!

Hervé Villemade is a natural winemaker situated within the Cheverny appellation. You might say there’s a gentle and productive form of competition between them, a source of motivation perhaps... When the family estate was handed over to him in 1995,...
