A blend of equal parts Grenache Blanc and Clairette, from old vines farmed without any chemical products, using only substances that can be “drunk or breathed,” and planted on a unique terroir within the appellation where sand plays a key role. The grapes were harvested by hand, with low yields, and vinified without artifice: direct pressing followed by long ageing in old casks over several years.
Emmanuel Reynaud
Emmanuel Reynaud, child of the 1963 vintage, was the discreet and perfectionist winemaker behind Château Rayas, Château des Tours, and Château de Fonsalette. He was heir to a lineage that began in 1880 with his great-grandfather Albert, and he took over Château Rayas and Château de Fonsalette in 1997 following the death of his uncle Jacques.
