Condrieu "Le Tinal" - 2022 - Jean Michel Stephan

Maison Stephan

A nose with notes of apricot, citrus, violet, and honey, with a hint of exotic fruit. The palate is at once crystalline and unusually powerful and fleshy, with length like we’ve rarely experienced in a tasting, and a finish with a hint of salinity. Serious stuff here – a very great wine.

100% Viognier, as the Condrieu appellation requires, from old vines farmed organically and planted in 1986 in the commune of Vérin on the Le Tinal vineyard site, which has granite and biotite soils, and faces south/southeast. The grapes are harvested by hand and the yields are kept under tight control. Vinified naturally, with indigenous yeasts, and 12 months of maturation in oak barrels. Neither fined nor filtered. Comes in a 50-cl bottle.
