Esprit du lieu - 2018 - Jonathan Maunoury
Domaine Jonathan Maunoury
Probably what Puy-Notre-Dame does best: when we give the Cabernet Franc time to soften and reveal its full potential, we discover these notes of blackberry, undergrowth, flowers... Complex palate, perfectly integrated tannins, long finish. 10 out of 10.

100% Cabernet Franc from vines planted in 1999 and grown biodynamically. They are planted at an altitude of 73 meters, on the south-west slope of the hill of Puy-Notre-Dame, on shallow and stony soils, predominantly clay-limestone over bed rock. Manual harvest. Vinification: 11 days of maceration in stainless steel vats, end of fermentation and prolonged aging in 225-litre barrels that have seen three wines, for two and a half years. Bottled at the Estate without fining, filtration or added sulphites.

Jonathan Maunoury
Jonathan Maunoury is a neo-vigneron: born in Normandy, an engineer by training, you could hardly say he was predestined for a life in wine. Yet one day while living in bustling Brussels and working a research position in the flexible screen industry (he couldn’t have been any farther from the great outdoors) he started feeling an unbearable desire for freedom. So he left to study viticulture...
