John's richest wine, thanks to the orientation of the slope + the heat from 2020 (and, dear wine geeks, from the carbonic maceration which breaks down the acid!). A nose of hazelnut, apricot and brioche. Complex palate with huge volume and a long finish – cellar this a few years if you can.

Chardonnay from vines farmed organically since their planting in 2000, on a small 20-ares parcel in the La Chateniere climat. A steep slope, worked by horse and winch, and harvested by hand, with micro yields (only 350 kgs harvested). John covered the whole bunches with C02 gas for two weeks of carbonic maceration, followed by pressing over marcs from Puligny, then 10 months of maturation in a 228-litre barrel that has seen several wines. Bottled in June 2021, without fining, filtration or added sulphites.
